How much milk should a two-month old baby consume everyday?

I have been worried over the past few days about the feeding pattern of my baby. I decided then to jot down her feeding schedule and the ounces of milk that she consumes on a daily basis. When she was just a month old, she could finish 4 ounces in one feeding, or most of the time, 3 ounces in one feeding. When her milk was changed from S26 to S26 HA, she had a difficulty finishing even a 1 oz milk so her pedia advised us to switch back to S26. She has colds these days so that might explain why sometimes she vomits. However, I don’t give up. I feed her even when she’s too sleepy (read: even when I’m toooooo sleepy and the bottle slips from my hand) hehe.

I started documenting her formula milk consumption last June 9, and here it goes:

Feeding Pattern for June 9: 617ml

  1. 11:40p.m. –> 50ml
  2. 1:36  a.m. –> 60ml
  3. 3:48  a.m. — > 42ml
  4. 6:38  a.m. –> 60ml
  5. 8:43 (@10:25) –> 40ml
  6. 11:00 a.m. –> 60ml
  7. 1:15p.m.   –> 25ml
  8. 4:02 p.m. –> 60ml
  9. 6:31 p.m. –> 60ml
  10. 7:27 p.m. –> 40ml
  11. 9:41 p.m. –> 60ml
  12. 11:25 p.m. –> 60ml

I read somewhere that a two-month old baby should feed every 3 to 4 hours with 3- 4 oz (90-120ml) per feeding. That would be 5 to 6 feedings per day with 450-720ml of milk. Looking at the feeding pattern of my baby, she feeds every two hours at 60ml per feeding or less if she fell asleep while feeding. Last June 9, I was so worried whether or not she would be able to consume at least 600ml. I was looking at her feeding pattern and summing up the amount of milk she consumed, and I was just relieved to see that she was able to consume 617ml for June 9. Today, I am starting to document her feeding pattern again.

Feeding pattern for June 10: 600ml

  1. 1:24a.m. –> 60ml
  2. 3:09a.m. –> 55ml
  3. 6:04a.m. –> 30ml (she fell asleep)
  4. 7:17a.m. –> 60ml
  5. 11:33a.m. –>120ml
  6. 1:54p.m.  –>32ml (she fells asleep)
  7. 4:57p.m. –> 20ml
  8. 6:45p.m. –> 60ml
  9. 7:50p.m. –> 60ml
  10. 10:41p.m. –>60ml
  11. 11:47p.m. –>60ml
  12. TBP (only 11 feedings but 600ml already! Yay!)

I hope she would consume at least 600ml today. Ciao!

Edit: As of 11:47p.m., she already consumed 600ml! Yehey! It’s 1a.m. as of this writing and baby is asleep already. I think she would ask for another milk at 2:30a.m. Although she didn’t drink for 12 feedings last night, she was able to beat my quota – 600ml. hehe. Time to sleep!

Feeding Pattern for June 11: 645ml

  1. 2:00a.m. –> 30ml (she fell asleep)
  2. 4:20a.m. –> 60ml
  3. 6:38a.m. –> 60ml
  4. 6:45a.m. –> 60ml
  5. 8:01a.m. –> 60ml
  6. 9:03a.m. –> 60ml
  7. 10:52a.m. –> TBP (she threw up; maybe because she’s overfed. she kept on asking for milk even though the interval time is so close with each feeding. she’s consumed 330ml of milk already and it’s just morning!pwera bati!)
  8. 1:17p.m. –> 80ml
  9. 6:03p.m. –> 60ml
  10. 7:08p.m. –> 40ml
  11. 9:36p.m. –> 60ml
  12. 11:10p.m. -> 55ml
  13. 12:48a.m. -> 10ml (she fell asleep; but, take note she consumed 13 feedings!)

Feeding Pattern for June 12: 660ml

She’s a sleepyhead last night. After her 10ml feeding at 12:48a.m., she woke up at 4a.m. to drink milk! Almost 4-hr uninterrupted sleep. I hope she would consume over 600ml today.

  1. 4:17a.m. –> 120ml
  2. 7:00a.m. –>  60ml
  3. 9:57a.m. –>  60ml
  4. 12:20p.m. -> 60ml
  5. 2:35p.m. –> 40ml (she fell asleep)
  6. 5:41p.m. –> 60ml
  7. 8:50p.m.–> 60ml
  8. 9:44p.m.–> 60ml
  9. 11:34p.m. -> 60ml
  10. 1:47a.m. –>10ml (she fell asleep)
  11. 4:10a.m. –>70ml (from 120ml)
  12. TBP (only 11 feedings; amounting to 660ml)

  2. 8:41a.m. –> 60ml
  3. 11:30a.m. -> 60ml
  4. 1:05p.m. –> 60ml
  5. 2:43p.m. –> 10ml
  6. 5:11p.m. –> 40ml
  7. 7:11p.m. –> 60ml
  8. 8:48p.m. –> 60ml (threw up)
  9. TBP
  10. TBP
  11. TBP
  12. TBP
