Heaviest newborn baby in Indonesia born at 8.7kg!

A baby boy, unnamed yet, was born as the heaviest baby in Indonesia. He’s weighing 8.7kg (wow, heavier than my baby at 5 months) and he’s 24.4cm long.

Heavy and big babies are a result of diabetic mothers. These babies “receive too much glucose and grow too large”, says the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Read more

Meta-physical explanation of fat deposits

The picture below captured my attention. For the fat deposits in our body, there’s a meta-physical explanation for each area. Although for me, I knew that I gained weight because of pregnancy and uneven distribution of my eating habits during my pregnancy, plus, the sleepless nights I have had, and the yo-yo dieting which I underwent after childbirth. However, I want to share this Malena’s meta-physical explanation of our fat deposits. This is more of our spiritual body types. It’s good to know why our fat deposits lie in certain areas of our body. The chart simply says that “every emotion manifests as a physical symptom”.

Vitamin D is important for babies

I recently read an article from the Web about the importance of Vitamin D in babies. It says that when a baby lacks the sufficient amount of Vitamin D, oftentimes it results to excessive bowling of legs, slow growth, breathing and heart problems. Another article says that lack of Vitamin D increases the risk of rickets, bone problems, heart disease, cholesterol issues, and diabetes.

I have been very worried because until now I think my baby’s legs aren’t straight yet. I wonder if we are doing the right massage, if it’s just because of her diaper, or if she is getting the right amount of Vitamin D (we don’t go out here in this country because it’s too hot outside – sunshine is a source of Vitamin D). I will feed her with sweet potato three times a week since it’s also a good source of Vitamin D. Continue reading →

On children becoming bilinguals

The title of the article, “how children become bilingual easily”, caught my attention. For one thing, I have a new baby, three-month old and counting, who is NOW talking. Well, she can speak a few English words, one Ar@bic, one Filipino, and maybe one word from my dialect. Whoa. Call her multilingual at her age! PB! Another thing, I am trying to learn a third language – Ar@bic. I wonder why I haven’t learned much during the past two years; must be because majority of our waking hours is spent with people who speak English. Now that our Indonesian maid is back with us (sometime last first week of this month), I am forced to “study” Ar@bic, the second language she fluently speaks. What we do is that she studies English with me, and I study Ar@bic with her. What a good trade of language skills! Continue reading →
