Dear Baby: 70th natural letter for my baby

Dear Baby,

Hello, baby! Howdy! You just slept an hour ago. You didn’t sleep in the afternoon. At dinner time, you just ate one small piece of chicken! Uh-oh. You must be very full from what you ate at lunch. You ate creamy macaroni, a different recipe from what you ate for the past two weeks.

Mommy kept on researching new toddler recipes for you. It was our fault that we just served you macaroni (soup) for the past two weeks. It’s because you also don’t want to eat any other food. But you always drink your Pediasure milk for three times a day. I checked your teeth and there are new teeth coming out. It must be the reason why you aren’t keen on eating a lot lately. Glad that we have a new yaya to experiment the toddler recipes I printed for the past two nights. At meal times and sleeping times, though, it’s still Mommy who takes good care of you. Mommy drops everything she does just to see that you are eating, and that you’re sleeping at least twice a day. But hmm, lately, your sleeping pattern has changed. Baby, you need to sleep well. It’s for your own good.

A few days from now, over 10 days, we’ll be on international travel as a family. We don’t have a nanny yet as soon as we reach the Philippines. We do hope that we’d get someone who can be trusted when Mommy and Daddy leaves for some important stuffs in our provinces. I am sure that Mama and Papa will look after you while we’re away. It would be hard on my part to leave you even for just two weeks because even here at home, you’d cry knocking at the door while Mommy’s at the bathroom. :D It’s separation anxiety, my baby, and Mommy is experiencing that, too.

It’s amazing how you know how to ask us to place our two hands in our faces, and you mimicked it, too. You first asked Daddy to put his hands on his face, and then you asked Mommy to do the same. When we were done, you placed your hands on your face (on both sides). Then you asked Daddy to remove his hands, and Mommy’s hands, too. You also did the same. And then, you asked us again to put our hands in our face, and removed them again. There was rhythm in what we did, and you never were confused doing it.

At16 months (uh-oh! I am shocked to know that you’ll soon be 17 months, I thought you’re just 15month-old!), you know a lot of trick already. You also watch movies intently, and you seem to understand what the characters are saying. Whenever you see Mommy holding the remote control, you’d chant “Edi, Edi, Edi”, (meaning, “Alvin, Alvin, Alvin”). You love to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks a lot.

This morning, you started drinking rice powder with milk to gain weight, as your yaya said. I do hope that you’d gain weight, baby. PLEASE.

This is all for now.

Dear Baby,

Hello, baby!!!! Mommy’s so ecstatic to tell you that you gained 1kg in just less than five days! WOWOWOW.

How’s that? Before, 3 months would pass without a change on your weight. Just a new yaya did the trick in making you gain weight. Oh baby, I’m so proud of you. I’m thankful to God, too.

Your new yaya is heaven-sent. She is just awesome. You’re doing just great with her. You like her a lot. You’re now kissing her on her pants. Uh-oh. I think I already wrote that in my previous letter. Yesterday, you bit her! You bit your yaya in her left arm, and it put a mark on her arm (with your two big teeth) Tehee. The other night, Daddy was just telling me about biting, if you’re already biting any one. :)

Tonight, as you were playing inside your tent which I asked Daddy to setup (again), I saw that there was something different with you. Your godmother already mentioned about it last night re: your physical dev’t (pwera bati!), but, I just ignored it, until tonight. I am truly thankful to God. It doesn’t matter how much money we spent to get your new yaya. What’s important is that you’re growing well. I asked her to make rice water for you (for your milk) for three times now. It could have made a difference, I guess. She cooks our food on a daily basis, and you’d love to eat, too. Now, Mommy is more relaxed to feed you. Thank God!

Your yaya said that in all families that she went to, it’s only you who’s like that to her – who didn’t cry on the first meeting/first encounter, who looks for her every now and then (before going to sleep, you look for her; after waking in the morning you look for her; you look for her most of your waking time!) hehe. Well, it’s OK; you’re still the sweetest daughter that we have. You still love to kiss Mommy!

Yesterday, it was Mommy’s first time to go out alone via taxi! (WOWWOOW). I got no choice but to really leave you with your yaya. Thank God you’re OK, and that you didn’t cry when you woke up and didn’t see me. But when I arrived, you immediately went to Mommy. You still cry occasionally, in fact, most of the time when I’m at home, and you wanted to let me carry you. There was a time you were crying, looking for me at the bathroom — when I was here in our bedroom. :)

This is all for now.

Dear Baby,

Hello, baby! Glad you’re asleep now. This morning, you didn’t sleep! You slept at 2p.m. instead. You were also busily mimicking our moves. You saw your yaya (nanny) wiping the glass door, and you did the same! How’s that for a 15-month old baby? And you did the wiping like a PRO. Mommy’s so proud of you.

Today, you ate a lot. WOW. Awesome, really. You love to eat macaroni. You also ate rice with soup (beef). I asked your yaya to prepare boiling water from the rice, and this will be the water to be used in preparing your milk. Some people say that you’d really gain weight with it.

You saw Mommy on the weighing scale. You also weighed yourself. You stepped on the weighing scale, and looked down to “see” your weight. Haha. Uh-oh. You gained a kilo from the last time we checked your weight – ahh, two months. Oh no. But I think you did increase in height. PB. I hope you’d really continue gaining more kilos in the next months.

I saw that you already kissed your yaya in her pants. Hmmm. You must be liking her a lot, too, for you to do that. You only do that to Mommy and Daddy. Am I feeling jealous here? Haha.

I am a little bit worried of the shape of your legs. Ahh, is it because you didn’t allow Mommy to massage you from two months old and until you reached your 1st year of age? It’s only recently that you’re allowing Mommy to massage your legs, but, only for a few seconds. I hope that as you learn to walk well, your legs would straighten up.

This is all for now. Sleep well, baby.

Dear Baby,

Hello, baby! You’re sleeping at this time. You woke up so early this morning to think that you slept at 1a.m. already. We just came from a meeting at the Church. You ate well there – spaghetti, and chicken. People loved looking at you while you were eating last night. Such a cutie, you are.

Last night, we also fetched our new maid. Amazing, really, that you liked her at once. She carried you while we were at the agency, and you didn’t cry. You also didn’t cry when she got you from me at the car. You also fell asleep in her arms, on our way home. When we reached our home, you showed your tactics with her. You danced, you clapped, and really played with her. Your yaya was washing the dishes, and you were watching her near the door. You’re getting along so fast with her, that’s the plus factor of your new yaya.

In the morning, you wowed us when you said “hi” to your yaya while waving your hand. You also said the word “yaya” for two times this morning.

When Daddy was about to leave for office, you didn’t go towards the door to kiss him because you were playing with your yaya. When Daddy called you, you just said “yah”, and to our amazement! Haha. Slang…I just taught you about how to say it the other day, and here you are now, saying it to us. Daddy said that you don’t want to walk with Daddy towards the door because of your yaya.  We kept on calling you. Then, suddenly, we saw you coming towards the living room, and let Daddy kissed you on your forehead.

Your yaya said that it’s as if you act like a grown-up already. You’re also witty, she said.

People may regard you as smallish, just like what the people at the agency said about you when they asked me about how many months you are now. I said a year old. Small, they said. I said back “adi” – normal. But they don’t know how smart you are! Smartness cannot be seen in the eyes at once, but, it definitely lasts longer than having physical height. What would we do with our strength if we don’t have the brains? Well, Mommy is just talking with myself right now, baby. BUT, baby, you should really eat, ha?

Now that we have a new yaya (she’s on trial with us for 3 days), Mommy can now concentrate on my tasks at work. I also need not worry because when Mommy’s busy, yaya could take turns with me in teaching you – although, of course, it would be Mommy who will be your fulltime homeschool teacher.

This is all for now.
